Cell Wall II
2003
This public art piece is an architectural frieze that joins three sides of a large building at the University of California Medical School in San Francisco. I developed the frieze to create a focal point in the midst of a heavily trafficked courtyard. The images depict a process of organic transformation called biomineralization which forms the skeletons of many living things. The piece addresses the journey of cells moving through the body and mimicking the various processes of replication and division.
