Morphology
2010
While in residence at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco I developed a series based on objects from the Academy’s collection that relate to what the natural world looked like 300 Million years ago. Digital technology has allowed me to construct hundreds of images of plant and insect species that existed then and reconstruct them into a new form. I am decontextualizing them as specimens and recontextualizing them as formal, calligraphic gestures that are interrelated and form a new visual language.
